How to make sure your self talk is effective and in alignment with what you want
Becoming aware of your self talk is an essential first step. You must also become aware of the thoughts in your head. Now, most of these thoughts are on repeat from the day before and about 80% of them are negative.
Most of them aren’t even your thoughts. They didn’t originate from you. They came from someone else like a parent, a sibling, a teacher or a friend. So what you want to ask yourself is.. are these your thoughts? Did you choose them? Most likely, the answer is no.
These thoughts greatly influence your self talk which greatly influences how you live your life. So becoming aware of the thoughts is very important.

Exercises that will help you become aware of the self talk and help you make sure that the self talk is in alignment with what you want
Exercise 1
Every couple of hours become present and take notice of your self talk. Then see if you can trace it back to a thought that came up automatically in your head.
For example:
The self talk- I can’t handle this right now.
The thought- I’m overwhelmed.
That was actually someone else’s thought. That is a thought that is just floating around. Would feeling overwhelmed be something that you would choose? Probably not.
Exercise 2
Address yourself in the third person during moments of self talk. Using your name instead of using “I” during moments of inner dialogue will create some space from the self talk and give you more perspective.
Exercise 3
Challenge the self talk if it is negative or not serving you. You can do this by considering whether it is even true—because usually it isn’t. It’s just something that’s on repeat.
Then replace that criticism with a statement that supports you. The key here is to replace it with a Universal Truth rather than a “positive” belief.
For example:
The self talk- Things never work out for me.
Positive belief- Things always work out for me.
Universal Truth- I live in a friendly Universe or Life is serving me in the highest.
See how the energy is more expansive with the Universal Truth?
In Closing
Hopefully, this training on how to make sure your self talk is effective will help you to become aware of your self talk and to make sure that it is in alignment with what you want.
