Why Switching Limiting Beliefs to Positive Beliefs
Falls Short for Equestrians
So what might be happening is that you tell yourself a positive belief to replace a limiting belief, but you know the positive belief isn’t true, so it doesn’t really work. It actually just amps up the negative self talk, and having negative self talk definitely makes reaching your goals much harder.
The first thing to know is that all beliefs are limiting beliefs. Read that again. All beliefs are limiting beliefs.
So, what you want to do is stop replacing limiting beliefs with positive beliefs and get to the core issue and release it.
The way to tell that something is a belief is that a belief is not true for everyone and everything.
For example, a belief is ‘If I show more, then I’ll have less anxiety at horse shows’.

This is a belief because it’s not true for everyone and everything.
There are people that only horse show a couple times a year and they never have anxiety when they horse show.
Getting to the core issue is key.
So what you actually want to do is get to the core issue, which in this example, would be what is causing the anxiety. So what you want to do is remove or release the anxiety, not try to overcome it or cover it up with a positive belief.
The way to remove the anxiety is to ask yourself why you have anxiety when you horse show. What comes up for you? Is it fear about something? Fear that you’ll fall off. Fear of letting your barn down. Is it that you want to win? Is it that you don’t feel confident enough to execute the course? What is it? Once you know what comes up for you, then you can take the necessary steps to release it.
Just saying “I don’t have anxiety. I’m nice and calm when I horse show” won’t cut it.
As you’re going through the process of getting to the core issues of what’s been keeping you from moving forward or keeping you from moving passed something, some negative self talk might come up that needs to be removed.
In Closing
Hopefully, this training on limiting beliefs helps you accomplish your equestrian goals.
