The Real Reason You Feel Mistreated

The first thing to realize is that this is an inside out job. You cannot “change” other people. You can only change yourself.

So, if you find that people are mistreating you or not listening to you, then you have to find where you are doing these things to yourself.

Ouch! I know that can be a little tough to hear, but it is the truth.

So where have you not valued or not honored yourself?

A good place to start is the last situation that happened where you thought you weren’t being honored or were being mistreated or not listened to. What happened?

“What happened” isn’t really the pertinent question. “Why did you feel mistreated or not listened to” is the pertinent question.

Let’s go through an example.

Let’s say you and your friends are going out to dinner and you make a suggestion for the restaurant, but they decide to go somewhere else and you feel dishonored, not listened to, stepped on or whatever it is that you feel. Why do you feel this way?

The Real Reason You Feel Mistreated

You feel this way because you do those things to yourself. You don’t feel this way because they decided to go to a different restaurant.

This is key. Really take this in. This situation is bringing up the fact that you don’t honor or value yourself.

If you valued yourself, then you wouldn’t feel dishonored or unheard or stepped over or whatever it is that you feel by the situation. It wouldn’t even exist. The feeling of being dishonored wouldn’t exist. The fact that you feel it is an indication that you don’t value yourself.

So, now that you know how this works, you will start to become aware of the places where you don’t value yourself or where you mistreat yourself or don’t listen to yourself.

In Closing

Hopefully, this training on the real reason you feel mistreated will help you to understand that other people’s actions really have nothing to do with how you feel.
